Consultancy Fees

The Garden Design consultancy fee is £75 if you live within a 15 mile radius of our office, additional fees apply outside this area. All costs outlined in this document include VAT.

Whether you want to change part of, or all of the garden, the help of an experienced designer is often invaluable.

The process revolves around the needs of each individual client, but typically follows several distinct phases as outlined below.

1. Design Consultancy visit

A Consultancy Visit enables us to meet clients personally and experience the space they want to change.

As Gardens can be as different as people, we listen carefully to what our clients need and want in terms of function, design and planting, so that we can offer the relevant advice and in turn, the most suitable design package and quotation. The Garden Design consultancy is a one-off fee of £75 if you live within a 15 mile radius of our office. Additional fees apply outside this area.

See Garden design fees below

2. The Brief

A good working brief is essential. Clients are asked to outline their requirements, preferences and budget requirements in a simple questionnaire. This is used to trigger further discussion and develop ideas so that a comprehensive brief is agreed before any design takes place.

3. Site Survey/Analysis

Before commencing with the design, the site is surveyed to record existing features and conditions. This may be a simple measurement survey by your designer or a full topographical survey depending on the project. An understanding of any planning requirements or restrictions is also established.

4. Concept/outline design

The concept Plan is usually a 2D scaled drawing of the proposed layout of the new garden. This highlights areas of proposed hard landscaping, lawns and planting and other ideas and features for discussion at a further meeting. Mood boards or 3D views may also be provided. Click to view Example Concept Plan.

A meeting after production of this plan is normally arranged so that we can communicate and develop the ideas in person and for the client to identify any preferences.

5. Master Plan

Following discussion, the concept design is adjusted, modified or updated with relevant detail to provide a master plan from which more accurate construction costs can be provided. Click to view example Master Plan.

Optional Design

6. 3D CAD views

To help you visualise your new garden, 3D landscape models or perspective views of your garden from different angles can be created if required.

7. Planting plans

These can be provided as an individual service for existing or new borders where a full garden design is not required. Taking into account individual preferences, site conditions and the overall ‘style’ of the scheme, planting plans identify the location, number and species of existing and new plants with a schedule for pricing. Many of the plants can often be viewed at our plant nursery.

8. Construction drawings and specifications

When required, detailed construction drawings of specific features, lighting or irrigation plans can be produced.

9. Planning

Where required, we can also act as our clients agent, completing the relevant forms and providing the relevant design for submission.

10. Project Management

We offer this free of charge when a client engages our build team to construct the garden. Our designer is then fully engaged with the project from start to finish and It is one of many cost, quality and time saving benefits when using a design and build Company.
